 ##### Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-) After walking around the outside of the Côa Valley Museum and spending some time admiring the landscape overlooking the valley, it was finally time to go inside. The transition is curious. Outside, light dominates everything. Inside, the atmosphere changes completely. My first impression was of entering a kind of large bunker. The concrete corridors, the massive walls, and the lighting create a feeling of robustness and isolation very different from the landscape we had just left behind. ##### PT Depois de termos percorrido o exterior do Museu do Côa e passado algum tempo a apreciar a paisagem sobre o vale, chegou finalmente o momento de entrar. A transição é curiosa. Cá fora, a luz domina tudo. Lá dentro, o ambiente muda por completo. A primeira impressão que tive foi a de estar a entrar numa espécie de bunker de grandes dimensões. Os corredores em betão, as paredes maciças e a iluminação criam uma sensação de robustez e isolamento muito diferente da paisagem que tínhamos acabado de deixar para trás. ---      It was precisely near the reception desk that the first setback of the day arose. When asking about visits to the rock engravings located in the valley, near the river, we were informed that these visits required prior booking. I was unaware of this detail and, unfortunately, all the sessions available for that day were already full. I confess I was a little disappointed. Being there, so close to the original sites, it was difficult not to feel some frustration at missing this opportunity and not being able to show my little one that piece of history in person. ##### PT Foi precisamente junto ao balcão da receção que surgiu o primeiro contratempo do dia. Ao perguntar pelas visitas às gravuras rupestres localizadas no vale, junto ao rio, fomos informados de que essas visitas exigiam marcação prévia. Eu desconhecia esse detalhe e, infelizmente, todas as sessões disponíveis para aquele dia já estavam completas. Confesso que fiquei um pouco desapontada. Estando ali, tão perto dos locais originais, era difícil não sentir alguma frustração por perder essa oportunidade e não poder mostrar à pequena ao vivo e a cores aquele pedaço de historia. ---     Even so, we quickly realized that the museum visit, in itself, justified the time invested.
