Porto - Serra Santa Justa / Riding Portugal

 ##### Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-) The Santa Justa Mountain Range has that strange power of seeming distant from the city even though it's so close. I decided to take a stroll there on a quiet Sunday afternoon, with a clear sky and perfect temperature for walking, perfect at least for me :) Not excessively hot, not too cold, one of those days when you can walk for hours without much effort. ##### PT A Serra de Santa Justa tem aquele poder estranho de parecer distante da cidade mesmo estando tão perto dela. Decidi dar lá um salto numa tarde de domingo tranquila, com céu limpo e uma temperatura perfeita para caminhar, perfeita pelo menos para mim :) Nem calor em excesso, nem frio, daqueles dias em que se consegue andar durante horas sem muito esforço. ---      The path was relatively busy, perhaps too busy for that place. Small groups, couples, people alone with dogs. Nothing exaggerated, but still busier than usual, enough to feel that I wasn't alone, without losing the sense of isolation that the mountain range manages to create in certain spots. The smell of earth mixed with pine trees and damp vegetation is characteristic of that place and immediately brought back very specific memories of the pandemic era. ##### PT O caminho estava relativamente movimentado, até demais para aquele local. Pequenos grupos, casais, pessoas sozinhas com cães. Nada exagerado mas mesmo assim, mais movimentado do que habitualmente, o suficiente para sentir que não estava sozinha, sem perder a sensação de isolamento que a serra consegue criar em certos pontos. O cheiro da terra misturado com pinheiros e vegetação húmida é característico daquele local e trouxe-me imediatamente memórias muito específicas dos tempos da pandemia. ---     Now that you start hearing about a new virus again, it was impossible not to think about that period. During Covid, this mountain range became almost a mental refuge for many people. For me and my family too. There were weeks when this was one of the few places where we could breathe without feeling the constant weight of the news, the limitations, and that strange silence of empty cities. We hiked these trails repeatedly during that time. I perfectly remember the feeling of walking here almost alone, always with that permanent doubt about when everything would return to normal. ##### PT Agora que se começa novamente a ouvir falar de um novo vírus, foi impossível não pensar nesse período.
